Finding Fire

When the world was young, the early hominids began roaming the earth. They were often found in caves to help shield them from the elements, and predators. But when the sun rose, they would begin their day, basking in the warm glory that this fire ball in the sky gave them.  As the sun sank below the horizon they would return to the cave and be in utter darkness
Gwar, someone we would call a caveman, was very observant of things around him. He would sit on the edge of his cave during the occasional thunder storms and watch. The streaks of light across the sky amazed him. Gwar could see that off in the distance that whenever the light would seem to hit the ground but he didn't see it happen.  But a short amount of time after, a monstrous rumble would sweep across the land.
Then, an intense light erupted out of the clouds and struck a tree not too far from Gwars cave. The light was gone in an instant but a dim light remained on the ground, the light flickered and began to grow. Soon a whole tree was glowing with an orangey-red tint. Filled with interest, Gwar left his cave and ventured over to the source of the light. As he walked up to it, he heard a crackling and a black cloud loomed overhead, neither of which were familiar to him. Gwar could see the lighted tree and as he neared, a strong wave of heat washed over him.
Gwar approached the tree and stared in awe at this hot light he is looking at. As Gwar watched this tree get reduced to a pile of glowing pieces of wood, he poked a stick around in it in an attempt to turn the light back on. But his stick now had the hot light dancing and flicking on the end of it. He now had the power to carry around the light, and when he touched it to most anything else, the light would spread. Once he returned home he showed the light to his caves-people and the rest is history.

Moment of Realiazation

The day began as any other, this one happened to be a Tuesday. Toby hit the snooze on his alarm; he had 3 days of school left and didn't want any part of it. After slipping into another dream his dad called out and woke him up. Walking like a zombie, he managed to get into the shower in an attempt to wake himself up.  He went down to eat some breakfast after drying off. He had toast and an old muffin he found in the pantry. Realizing the time, Toby had to sprint to get ready or else he was going to be late again to first hour and his teacher was already upset.
On the way to school, Toby listened to some new music he had gotten and hoped it would get him through the day.  Along the way, an accident occurred along his route to school and caused a bit of a delay. Pulling into the parking lot he found a spot in the visitor’s area and ran into school. After that his day progressed into a day unlike any others. Most of his classes whizzed by and passing time seemed to take forever. There was a field trip he had forgotten about to some odd place. He wasn't sure what it had to do with school but he just went along with it.
The place wasn't very well lit and it had a musty smell to it as well. The class was enjoying the place, but the class wasn't full of the kids he remembers. The people were ones he’s never seen in his life before and he got a little worried. Entering into a new room, a faint ringing came from the distance. But as the class walked closer to the ringing, it didn't get any louder, just kept the same tone, and then disappeared.
Toby hated when his dad would hit the door to wake him up because it scared him. But Toby was confused; he was just at school and now in his bed again? After shaking off the cobwebs he noticed he was in a dream when he was at school. He never woke up nor went to school. It was time to do it again.
